Madamp G3 Blues
The G3 Blues is a single-channel 3W tube guitar amplifier with the following features:
* Single-channel construction with gain, 3-band tone control and master volume
* Push-pull output stage with a double triode (3W at 8/16 Ohm)
* Flexible sound shaping because of a pentode in the first gain stage, the gain control changes the amplification and compression of the signal
* Real bedroom amp, with 3W power amplifier real power amp saturation at tolerable volume
* Designed for hanging or standing installation in a top or combo
Dimensions steel chassis (WxDxH 254 x 152 x 51 mm), total height including tubes 118 mm
The G3 Blues is equipped with Russian tubes (6F1P, 6N1P and 6N6P), these are not directly compatible with European or American tubes due to the slightly different pin assignment. (6F1P: similar to ECF80, Pentode as preamp tube, 6N1P: similar to ECC85 as power amp driver / phase inverter, 6N6P: similar to 12BH7/ECC99 as double triode power amp)
Nice, small 3 watt full tube amp, made from a Madamp kit, neatly and professionally assembled, but without a housing.
In terms of sound, the amp produces very good, American clean sounds, similar to Silverface / Blackface amps, with a somewhat more flexible, very well working tone control, which also allows a good midrange control and adjustment.
Pleasant, melodious tube tone, also with surprisingly good bass reproduction, which is not always the case with low watt amps.
The gain control additionally compresses the tone at higher levels, also adds a little more sustain, at higher settings the amp also “sings” a little more, but even with more gain it does not really produce a typical tube overdrive, only some subtle, but good-sounding crunch.
Any full Tweed Champ - or even Plexi - Crunch you will not get out of this amp without an additional overdrive pedal, which becomes clear when you look at the circuit: The preamp pentode is followed by a cathode follower, which is supposed to minimize the signal loss of the following tone stack, this is followed by the second gain stage, but the second triode of the second preamp tube already acts as a phase driver for the push pull power amp.
The amp comes without a housing, there are suitable DIY housings, for example, available at Tube Town. (You can of course only mount some kind of cover plate instead, which anyway is recommended because the amp works with high voltage internally.)
The amp is intended for hanging installation, but standing installation is also possible. It is fastened with 4 M4 threaded screws, there are fastening holes on the chassis.
Documentation (circuit diagram, assembly instructions) is available on the net, e.g. on the Madamp page (madamp.de), sound samples as well.
The amp is in good, almost new condition, works perfectly.
Comes with original tubes (not mounted) and power cord (EU-plug).
Private sale as is, so no warranty, return or refunding will be granted.
Shipping within the European Union only.
This is a private sale, so the buyer bears all shipping risks. Insured shipping only. Please watch my other offers as well!
