This bass is a store floor model in excellent condition. Made in Korea.
Designed by Steve Pisani, president, and Dave Wise, head luthier, of D’Angelico Guitars, we are proud to present the EX-BASS, D’Angelico’s first-ever electric Archtop bass. Available fretted or fretless, this masterpiece combines the properties and design features of a vintage hollowbody with the capacity to handle a modern performance environment.
Utilizing the same violin-inspired, post archtop bracing as our acclaimed EX-SS guitar, this bass sounds as great as it looks. Unamplified, the EX-BASS’s incredible resonance resembles an acoustic instrument. Plugged in, the EX-BASS delivers a range of tones that will enable you to cover any gig. Dialing in your desired sound is easy with the instrument's traditional wiring design - volume, tone, and three-way pickup selector switch. While the EX-BASS’s tonal path is all about simplicity, countless hours of painstaking research were spent engineering the optimal placement of the pickups, and the results are simply astounding. The neck pickup position is full and deep sounding with the warmth of a traditional, vintage ’60s hollowbody bass. The bridge position is powerful, bright, and loud for situations when you need more punch.
The EX-BASS was created for professional musicians and its lightweight design makes even the longest live performances fatigue free. The standard neck shape with a 3/4" scale is amazingly comfortable, and the deep cutaway gives unobstructed access to the upper reaches of the fretboard.
Staying true to the D’Angelico legacy, the EX-BASS exudes elegance. The distinctive headstock with a mother-of-pearl Excel inlay and Art Deco truss rod cover recall the classic D’Angelico style. The EX-BASS’s gorgeous carved maple top and back is accented by the mother-of-pearl square block inlays, ebony knobs, and gold-plated hardware (Tune-O-Matic bridge, pickup covers, and tuners). A deluxe hardshell case is included.
The fretless model, available only in black, is a beauty to behold. The expressive instrument features the same specs as its four-string sibling except for its unlined fretboard. Dot markers on the binding make for quick and accurate finger positioning.
Whether you’re laying down a fat groove, walking uptempo bebop changes, or are a nimble-fingered virtuoso, the EX-BASS is simply spectacular.
