This exceptional instrument was built by the renowned Spanish luthier Salvador Ibáñez, one of the most important figures in Spanish instrument making and the predecessor of the modern Ibanez brand.

The original internal label bears the historic workshop address:

Based on the label design and the research published by Dutch scholar Tom Bogaard, this instrument can be dated to approximately 1898-1901. His blog:

More than a collector's piece, this is a fully playable instrument with remarkable resonance, projection, and tonal character. Recently restored and fitted with a new set of strings, it remains in outstanding condition considering its age of well over 120 years.

According to information received from the previous owner, the instrument may have belonged to an Italian Pauline religious community established in Valencia during the twentieth century.

The instrument comes from a private French collection and is offered together with a new hard case specifically designed for laúds and bandurrias, manufactured by Marco Margi and purchased through Guitarras Alhambra.

Condition

Considering its age, the instrument has survived in exceptional condition. The original label remains in place inside the body and shows natural aging consistent with a late nineteenth-century instrument.
