2008 GIBSON EXPLORER
The Explorer is one of Gibson’s most radical designs, and this 2008 example adds a pickup setup built for versatility. The mahogany body and neck give it the resonance and sustain the model is known for.
In the neck position, the Seymour Duncan Alnico II Pro delivers a smooth, round, singing tone, ideal for leads and cleans. In the bridge, the Duncan Distortion brings bite, plenty of output and a tight attack for driven riffs. At 4.1 kg (9 lbs), it sits right in the normal range for the model.
Modifications, in full disclosure: both pickups have been replaced with the Seymour Duncans described above, and the original pickguard has been swapped for a black one. Everything else is as it should be. It comes with its original hardshell case.
