Bartolini Jazz Bass-style pickups (6-string), 1990/1991
Very hard to find nowadays; please read the full description.
A pair of Bartolini 6-string bass pickups. Jazz Bass format. Passive. Probably handmade.
The model number—789W6—is hand-engraved on the copper backplate.
These were custom-ordered from Bartolini by German luthier Thomas Piechowiak, who built "Frame" brand basses (note: not Framework or Framus, see photo) in the early 1990s.
These pickups originally came in a fretless Frame Master 6.
The "6" indicates they are for 6 strings, and the "W" signifies a design with one pole piece per string, featuring an independent coil for each pole.
The "78" in the model number indicates the recommended maximum string width; this corresponds to basses with a bridge string spacing of between 16mm and 16.5mm.
In this case, the dimensions of both pickups are identical; there is no specific neck or bridge pickup. The resistance of each is virtually the same—similar to how certain humbucker models, such as those from Delano, are designed today.
They are in perfect working order.
