Gibson LP Junior DC '59, Collector's Choice CC19 - Serial #2
Gibson Collector’s Choice #19 Les Paul Junior DC – Serial #002
Offered for sale as part of a collection downsizing is an exceptionally rare and outstanding instrument: a 2017 Gibson Custom Shop Collector’s Choice #19 Les Paul Junior Double Cut, featuring the remarkably early serial number #002.
This model is based on a unique 1959 Les Paul Junior Double Cutaway and was built to True Historic specifications, including hide-glue construction, vintage-correct plastics, a period-accurate finish, and an authentic neck profile.
Although Gibson initially planned to produce 300 examples, only approximately 75–80 guitars were reportedly completed due to the company’s financial difficulties at the time. This makes the CC #19 one of the rarest and most collectible models in the entire Collector’s Choice series.
This guitar is a true rock ’n’ roll weapon: lightweight, resonant, loud, and incredibly alive. At just 2,89kg , it rings out acoustically with plenty of sustain, snap, and attack.
Plugged in, the single Dog-Ear P90 delivers everything from gritty, biting riffs to warm and expressive lead tones. Whether played clean, crunchy, or through full-on overdrive, this guitar handles it all with character and attitude.
The neck features a substantial late-’50s chunky C profile. It feels reassuringly solid while remaining smooth and very comfortable to play.
Visually, it is a total knockout: a deep Aged Ebony finish with beautiful lacquer checking, subtle Custom Shop aging, a faux-tortoise pickguard, and vintage-style ivory 3-on-a-plate tuners – all combining to give it an authentic vintage appearance.
