Description:

Vintage Univox Hi-Flier Phase II electric guitar in white, featuring the classic reverse-offset Mosrite-inspired body shape that later became iconic through Kurt Cobain’s use of these guitars in the early 1990s.

This example has the desirable Phase II features: twin P-90-style single-coil pickups, 3-way toggle, roller bridge with separate vibrato tailpiece, white 3-ply pickguard, rosewood fingerboard, and the later block-letter “UNIVOX” logo applied under the lacquer on the headstock. Small individual string trees are present, consistent with documented Phase II examples.

Based on these features, this guitar dates to approximately 1971–1974, in the window between Univox’s early Phase I production and the 1974 shift to humbucker-equipped Phase III models. Serial number is 1003325.

Note: Univox did not keep reliable serial number production records, so dating is based on feature analysis (logo style, hardware, pickups) rather than the serial number alone — this is standard practice for identifying these guitars and is noted by collectors and vintage guitar researchers.

**Condition Notes — Please Read Carefully**

This Univox Hi-Flier has been in storage and is being sold as I am in the process of moving house. It is a genuine 1970s example and shows fair wear consistent with its age. Please review the photographs closely, as they document the condition alongside this description.

- **Electronics:** The guitar is fully functional and does produce sound when plugged in. However, the electronics are currently crackly and will need attention — likely a pot/switch clean or partial rewiring — to get them running smoothly and reliably.
- **Pickup saddles:** The saddles that the pickups sit in are cracked. Visible in photos.

- **Tuning peg:** Peg for the low E shows a visible crack. Visible in photos.-

- **Neck joint:** There are two hairline fractures at the neck joint, which is a fairly typical age-related issue on Univox guitars of this era due to the bolt-on neck construction. Visible in photos. I cannot verify if this is merely lacquer deep or anything more however the guitar plays fine keeps in tune and is sturdy.
- **General wear:** The guitar shows typical wear for its age — finish wear, minor dings and general playing wear consistent with a genuine vintage instrument that has been used over the decades.

This is a vintage project-friendly guitar: it plays and works as-is, but a new owner will likely want to address the wiring and inspect the neck joint before heavy gigging use. Please study all photos carefully and message with any questions before bidding/buying — sold as seen based on the description and photographs provided.

Happy to consider offers.
