Teisco E-110 Tulip 1960s Sunburst MIJ / Japan with Gig Bag
Vintage Japanese-made Teisco E-110 “Tulip” electric guitar from the 1960s ... in the classic sunburst finish.
I bought this guitar from Mill River Music in Massachusetts about 10 years ago. It is in great shape for its age - maybe the cleanest Tulip I have encountered in the wild ... normal marks and finish wear. It has a chunky neck and the funky vintage charm these guitars are known for.
The single pickup is ... distinctly microphonic. a cool, raw garage-rock tone that you will not get from a modern pickup.
A few important condition notes:
- The frets are quite low. The guitar is 100% playable, but depending on your preference, you may want to address this. I had it set up for slide so I didn't really care.
- The volume and tone pots work, but they need to be cleaned or replaced. Their taper is inconsistent, and sometimes turning a knob produces little or no immediate change. I never cared 'cause I just kept everything on 10 with the slide.
- No truss rod.
- There was a small shim in the neck pocket when I bought it. I removed it, but it will be included so the next owner can reinstall it or adjust the setup as desired.
- According to Mill River, the nut was replaced before I purchased it.
All in all a very clean and playable example of a wonderfully odd vintage Teisco. Comes with a basic gig bag.
