Rare Ayotte Keplinger 14x5.5” Stainless Steel snare drum with original Ayotte wood hoops.
This is a beautiful example of the highly sought-after Ayotte Keplinger stainless steel snare drums, made in Canada.
The drum features the original Keplinger 3mm stainless steel shell, original Ayotte hardware, original Ayotte wood hoops and the original Ayotte throw-off.
What makes this particular drum especially interesting is the unusual high-gloss black finish on the wood hoops with a dark blue/black marbled pearl-style inlay. This finish appears to be considerably less common than the more frequently seen natural or satin-finished Ayotte hoops. I have seen very few Keplinger drums with this exact hoop finish.

The drum is 14” x 5.5”.
I recently completely disassembled the drum and carefully cleaned and polished all components. The stainless steel shell and hardware are in very good condition, and the bearing edges are excellent and completely intact. The hoops show some cosmetic signs of their age and previous use, including some small marks and wear to the finish, which can be seen clearly in the photographs.
This is an original, unmodified vintage Ayotte Keplinger!
