Vintage RARE 1960's LTV University 8100 model / Altec Cardioid Dynamic Microphone Hi Z w accessories Shure Electro Voice Ampex

 Every now and then I come across a special microphone or stand that I know little about and have rarely ever seen. This is one of them.

 You are looking at a very rare and unique 1960's era LTV University model 8100 microphone which was a division of Ling-Temco-Electronics / University. This mic was also sold under the Altec brand name but as far as I know that was the only two companies that ever sold this microphone.

 This 8100 model has an ultra modern, mid-century design being lite weight and easy to hold. It has a unique look all it's own and a very handsome design. It's a rugged all metal design with the beautiful satin chrome finish. It comes with the original mic clip shown as well as the cable. I believe this is a dual impedance microphone due to it's 4 pin arrangement but it's currently wired at High impedance.

 I actually have another one of these for sale currently but it's the University 8000 model. This 8100 is basically the exact same except that for this mic comes with the on / off switch.

 The mic has a cardioid pattern blocking out most background noise and has what I would describe as a very "rockabilly" tone being void of bass. Great for that old school sound that some musicians are looking for. The signal is quite strong and clear. This would be ideal for a HAM Radio set up and will make for distinct vocals if you choose to sing with it.

 The model 8100 measures 6 1/2 inches long X 1 3/4 inches wide at the tip. 

 I don't know anything about this mic as info is very hard to come by but it appears to be a high quality build. It has been tested  and works without issue. The physical condition is quite nice as well. Zero scratches, scuffs, fractures or dents. The front grill is very nice and free of tarnish, odors or dents. The University label is quite nice with just a tiny bit of wear. This mic was very well taken care of. 

 This mic does come with an original hard to find University clip that grips the mic nicely and pivots greatly to get just the right angle needed. Mic clip will screw onto any desk or floor stand you have as well.

 The mic comes with it's original 15 foot 4 pin cable that is in excellent condition being soft, pliable and has the standard male 1/4 inch end connector for use with most audio equipment and all guitar amplifiers.

 This mic is ready to go. I'd rate the physical condition of this mic a true 9 on a scale of 1 - 10.
