Gibson SG Guitars for Sale on Reverb

The SG in the Gibson SG stands for solid guitar, and that's exactly what it is. Gibson SGs are great instruments, and while they're best known as rock machines, they work for any genre. The best Gibson SG for the money is the SG Standard '61, if you're buying new. It's true to the original but saves you a little by not including a Vibrola. But you can't go wrong with the SG Standard from any year, whether buying new or used.

The current entry-point to the line is the SG Tribute, but the SG Special Fadeds made from 2004 to 2012 are the smart buy on the used market. If you like single-coil P90 pickups instead of humbuckers, the SG Special and SG Junior are also great options.

Did you know the SG was first released as a Gibson Les Paul? Learn more about the history of the guitar in our article "The Birth of the Gibson SG." Or, if you're interested in the more budget-friendly Epiphone SGs, read our "Gibson vs. Epiphone: The Differences That Matter."
