1950s-1960s Harmony Reso-Tone 5-String Openback Banjo – Made in USA, One-Owner "Closet Classic"

Up for sale is a beautiful, one-owner 1950s-1960s Harmony Reso-Tone 5-string openback banjo, proudly stamped "Made in the USA" on the headstock.

Originally manufactured in Chicago, Illinois, the Reso-Tone is a legendary workhorse. It features Harmony's famous molded Bakelite (phenolic resin) rim. This non-wood rim design makes the banjo practically impervious to weather and humidity changes, while delivering a surprisingly loud, clear, and snappy tone that old-time and clawhammer players love. It is incredibly lightweight and a joy to hold.

This instrument has spent its entire life with a single owner in a smoke-free home music room. I am selling it in its true "as-found" condition—complete with original music-room dust and patina. I am leaving the cleaning and setup entirely to the new owner.

(Note: There is no case included in this sale, but I take packaging very seriously. It will be wrapped in multiple layers of heavy-duty bubble wrap, fully suspended inside a proper, sturdy banjo box, and shipped securely. Cosmetic Condition & Wear:

This is a loved, played, but highly respected vintage instrument:

 There are a few very small, minor nicks and light scuffs on the neck/headstock paint consistent with careful use over the last 60+ years.

 The metal hardware has some honest, dusty vintage patina.

 I have taken close-up, high-contrast photos of the minor blemishes so you know exactly what to expect.
