Vintage Tannoy Parliament Ribbon microphone 1960s - Brass, extremely rare

The famous Tannoy Parliament Ribbon microphone designed and built especially for the Houses of Parliament in Westminster, London and installed as a 12 microphone array in 1960s. The microphones were all given new ribbons and upgraded through the 70s and 80s until 1991.

These are very hard to find. The story goes that only 12 were ever made but in fact there were at least 6 in reserve for servicing but likely less than 20 in existence. A pair of these sold for over 5000€ on Reverb 6 years ago. I enclose an image of that sale. This one was serviced in 2009 and works perfectly. It is the best room microphone I've ever used and very sensitive with a very full and rich sound perfect for acoustic instruments. As a ribbon mic you keep it at least 2 metres from a drum set and never sing directly into it at close proximity. I have many other ribbon microphones in the studio but this one has, in my opinion, very special qualities not found in modern mics. It has been carefully stored upright and used lovingly on many sessions. I'm now retiring and closing the studio so please see my other listings for some lovely vintage and modern pieces.
