In 2024, the 70th anniversary of the Stratocaster, Fender Custom Shop presents a model that captures the look and sound of a Strat from a particularly distinctive and coveted era: the limited-edition 1964 L-Series Stratocaster. Its two-piece, select alder body features a Heavy Relic lacquer finish that beautifully recreates the look and feel of a mid-'60s Strat that has withstood decades of heavy use, in Aged Olympic White.

Its rift-sawn maple neck is designed with a comfortable 1963-style "C" profile, topped with a rosewood fingerboard featuring a compound radius (7.25" to 9.5"), 21 medium vintage frets (47095), and a bone nut. The classic Strat tone of the era comes from three hand-wound '64 Custom Shop Stratocaster pickups (middle pickup with reverse winding/reverse polarity for hum cancellation in positions 2 and 4 of the switch) that deliver clear highs, well-balanced mids, and tight lows, routed through the five-way selector switch and with Vintage Modified #2 wiring featuring the Tone-Saver circuit, which eliminates tone loss when the volume is turned down.

Other premium features include a three-ply mint green pickguard, a vintage Custom Shop synchronized tremolo bridge, vintage-style tuners, a wing-shaped string tree with a tall metal spacer, a deluxe hardshell case, a strap, and a certificate of authenticity.

This 2024 guitar is a Heavy Relic piece of art in mint condition and is featured on our shop's Wall of Fame. This guitar chimes like anything before.
