(Super RARE!) Trainwreck 1980's Original Air Brake Power Reducer SN0009

An extremely rare original Trainwreck Air Brake Power Reducer built by Ken Fischer himself.

This unit was hand-built by Ken Fischer of Trainwreck Circuits, widely regarded as one of the most legendary boutique amplifier builders.

The Air Brake was reportedly developed in response to players who wanted to slightly reduce the volume of their Trainwreck amplifiers while preserving their characteristic tone. The central control features a six-position rotary switch (MAX–MINI) that allows for stepped attenuation. Compared with many conventional attenuators, the reduction levels are relatively mild, enabling players to control volume while maintaining the distinctive tone and dynamics of a Trainwreck amplifier.

There is also another version of the Trainwreck Air Brake with a similar enclosure but printed lettering on the faceplate. That version was produced and sold by a friend of Ken Fischer with his permission. In contrast, the original Air Brake units built personally by Ken Fischer used this labeled format and were produced only in very small numbers.

On this particular unit, the gold sticker that originally appeared beneath the AIR BRAKE label—displaying the Trainwreck Circuits company name, address, and telephone number—has been removed. However, the rear panel retains the stamped serial number 0009. As a piece built by the legendary amplifier builder himself, this unit carries significant historical value.
