Drum Machine Donca Matic DE-20 (Historic Drum machine anno 1966, Keio-Electric Lab later renamed Korg)

One of the first drum machines manufactured by Keio-Electric Lab in Tokyo/Japan, the analogue Donca Matic DE-20 is featured in some rare articles available online. It is well working and producing its clear and solid sound with good bass volume.

For years, there have been no available units of this series on the market. Korg today exhibits examples in its in-house museum in Tokyo. The DE-20 is sold from a smoke-free private studio to collectors, bands, or museums. It presumably comes from the estate of the legendary Musicland Studio in Munich, though this cannot be reliably confirmed.

Here in the studio, it was used for demo recordings and once in a music performance in Schwabing/Munich in the early 2000s. The DE-20 was generally intended to replace the drummer in small bands, musician duos or dance events.

Condition:
Works perfectly (film clips available as a demo). External signs of wear on the wood (see pictures). There are two small holes on the front of the loudspeaker protection cover, but they have no influence on the function (see photos). Volume potentiometer crackles slightly. The start button needs to be pressed harder. Footswitch is missing (connection cable is present and connected). The Donca Matic can be used immediately without restrictions.
