27 frets, with scalloped ebony fingerboard from 21 to 27 for that Yngwie Malmsteen vibe – aggressive and expressive, all the features you’d want!
Jescar JUMBO stainless steel frets, paired with new Gotoh locking tuners.
The factory build is decent, but I couldn’t resist tweaking it myself:
- Custom fretwork: rounded ends, slight leveling, crowning, polishing (just enough for ultra-low action – I’m a perfectionist 🤓).
- Saddles shimmed to match fretboard radius – the stock Gotoh 1996T Floyd had no shims, causing high-fret bending buzz. Now: low action, no buzz!
- Replaced volume pot with genuine U.S. Bourns + coil split – super smooth & quiet for Jeff Beck-style volume play.
- Upgraded to rare reverse-style Japanese Gotoh locking tuners – pricey, but so worth it.
