Yamaha is a long-established domestic brand that started developing electric guitars and basses by taking advantage of the electric guitar boom in the 1960s. It has continued to introduce a wide variety of original models with its own unique line that is different from other companies, and some of its flagship models are still in use today.

The 'Broad Bass' has appeared in the catalog since around 1977. This is the first year model of the 'BB-2000', the best model at the time, which was added to the lineup in 1978 from the BB series, which has long been loved as the flagship of domestic solid basses.

The tuner has been replaced, and the winding hardness is not very uneven and it works well. The playability is good as it has been refretted and the nut replaced at our shop. The nut width is about 42.8 mm. The neck shape is characterized by a firm thickness towards the end. The string height is currently standard, but it cannot be lowered any further because the saddle touches the bridge.

The controls are simple, with [1 volume/1 tone/3-way pickup selector switch]. The pickup is a so-called JB type, which combines a reverse layout split type 'B-I' with a bar magnet type single bobbin 'B-II'. This is a great product that overcomes the problem of sound variation that was an issue when the BB was first released, by combining the warm and well-balanced B-I pickup with the attractive B-II pickup with a bite and firm tone.
