Rare, vintage 1964 Martin Guitar 00-21. Very good condition. Gorgeous Brazilian Rosewood. Beautiful, warm tones. Playable right out of the case. Has been kept in its original case for over 45 years. Professional musicians who have played and assessed the guitar have been so impressed with it they have all asked me, “Are you sure you want to sell this?” Well, it was my father’s guitar (which we both played), and I have been keeping it all these decades for sentimental reasons. But I think it’s time to let someone else enjoy it. The neck is solid Mahogany. The top wood is solid Spruce (Sitka). The fingerboard, back, and sides are solid Brazilian Rosewood, which gives this series of guitar its rare, rich, beautiful tones. (In 1969, the ever-increasing cost of Brazilian Rosewood had become prohibitive, and as a result, Martin stopped using it. The presence of Brazilian Rosewood in this 1964 model is one factor making this guitar unique.) The finish on its base is slightly worn (see pic), and it could eventually use (but doesn’t necessarily require) a neck reset. If you live within traveling distance and would like to play this guitar before deciding whether to buy it, you are welcome to drop by. I live in the Santa Cruz area of California.
