There is some disagreement as to what model this 1963 D'Angelico actually is. Mr. D'Angelico's logs call it an Excel, so maybe it's an Excel. It's a 17" body and it has some Excel features but it also has the New Yorker headstock inlays. Why put the New Yorker inlays in the headstock if it isn't a New Yorker. It doesn't say New Yorker though. No matter which model it actually is, it's a stunning guitar and a piece of art. It's loud, too. I don't associate arch tops with volume. It has a very sweet sound with good balance and strong midrange. Condition is near mint. I am not an expert by any means so any knowledge you might want to impart will be appreciated (I have the book already). Nice fake alligator case (no alligators were harmed).
