The Honduran mahogany neck features the distinctive 470 JL profile, measuring .850" at the first fret and .955" at the ninth, providing a comfortable and substantial feel that remains highly playable across the neck. The ebony fingerboard has a 12" radius, graduated pearl dots, and medium 18% nickel-silver frets, while the 1 11/16" Delrin nut and 24 7/8" scale length contribute to its comfortable feel and responsive string tension. An extra-long mortise and tenon neck joint enhances the connection between neck and body, while the ebony peghead veneer is finished with a mother-of-pearl Collings Script logo. Relic nickel Waverly tuners with vintage oval buttons and a 16:1 ratio complete the vintage-inspired aesthetic.

The 470 JL is voiced through a pair of custom adjustable-height Ron Ellis Ellisonics pickups, delivering a dynamic and articulate range of tones that responds naturally to the player's touch. Its 470 wiring configuration features a master volume and two tone controls, with DiMarzio 500K pots, Jupiter Vintage Yellow and Orange Drop components, and a treble bleed circuit for maintaining clarity as the volume is rolled back. A Bigsby B3 vibrato provides expressive pitch movement, while the pinned ebony bridge base features a Tune-o-matic saddle top with nylon saddles for a balanced response and smooth feel. Black phenolic pickup rings and black and silver or black and gold reflector knobs add understated period character.
