The Subdecay Vagabond is a rather distinctive analog tremolo pedal because it combines two classic types of tremolo in a single unit:
- Harmonic Tremolo: it splits the signal into frequency bands and modulates them alternately. The result is deeper, more three-dimensional, and almost phaser/vibe-like compared with a conventional tremolo. It is inspired by the circuits found in some early-1960s Fender amplifiers.
- Bias Tremolo: this is the more traditional type of tremolo, based on the volume variation produced by certain tube amplifiers. It sounds warm, organic, and pulsating.
