Taylor 326ce Baritone-6 LTD Acoustic-electric Guitar – Shaded Edgeburst
A Versatile, Exuberant Voice for Your Music
This article was Written By Sweetwater Product Research Team
The amazing Taylor 326ce Baritone-6 LTD adds an exuberant, versatile voice to your sonic palette that’s also delightfully accessible. This 6-string Grand Symphony baritone’s natural husky tonal register sits nicely under vocals, letting you comfortably hit notes that might otherwise be hard to reach — all without having to transpose or retune. And if you want to play in standard tuning, simply place a 12-string capo on the fifth fret. If you’re looking to expand your musical horizons or revitalize your playing or songwriting, the Taylor 326ce Baritone-6 LTD is an inspiring addition to your guitar arsenal.
Layer with another guitar
Layered with another guitar, the baritone also provides a rich textural complement, letting you play bass parts or chord voicings with a beautiful blend of depth and sparkle. Strummed, the Baritone-6 LTD does a great job of thickening an arrangement without overpopulating the upper midrange and high frequencies. At Sweetwater, we’ve found that leaves room for a 12-string, which, layered in combination with the bari, creates a compellingly deep, harmonically complex sonority that works wonderfully in certain instrumental settings.
Grand Symphony body style: huge, balanced tone with articulation
Bob Taylor developed the Grand Symphony body style to push the sonic envelope (yet again). Deeper, fuller, and louder than a Grand Auditorium — or a dreadnought, for that matter — the Taylor 326ce Baritone-6 LTD serves up sonorous, piano-esque lows, solid midrange, and confident treble. Whether strumming big chords or flatpicking intricate runs, this instrument gives your notes articulation — even with a light attack. The Grand Symphony is a guitar to be reckoned with.
A potent tonewood cocktail
In selecting tonewoods for the 326ce Baritone-6 LTD, Taylor went a little out of their way to bring something special to the party. As a top tonewood, tropical mahogany delivers a distinctively dry and woody tone with clarity, focus, and a strong fundamental, plus a touch of natural compression. With its strong midrange presence, Tasmanian blackwood, used for the back and sides of this guitar, has a tonal profile resembling that of mahogany or koa — clear and dry, yet also warm — with an added splash of high-end shimmer and harmonic richness usually found in rosewood. It all adds up to a highly musical tonewood recipe that suits a variety of musical styles.
Cutting-edge Taylor ES2 electronics
The 326ce Baritone-6 LTD’s tonewood combo delivers a smooth balance of power, articulation, and sustain — and with Taylor’s onboard Expression System 2 electronics, all that rich tonal character is allowed to bloom without any bottom-end murkiness. The key to this sophisticated system is the 3-section proprietary pickup located behind the saddle. Because of where it’s positioned and how it’s integrated into the guitar’s saddle, the ES2 pickup provides you with remarkably clear and accurate sound. In addition to a master volume control, a pair of tone controls lets you tweak your highs and lows to get the sound you need, and a discreet polarity switch offers vital onboard feedback suppression.
