Manche Gitarren verändern die Atmosphäre im Raum, sobald man den Koffer öffnet. Diese Made-to-Measure R7 ist genau so ein Kaliber. Die Kombination aus der tiefdunklen, Burgundy-farbenen Rückseite, dem subtil schimmernden Double Gold-Finish und dem werkseitig montierten Bigsby-Vibrato zieht die Blicke sofort magisch an.

Vintage-Nerds kommen zudem mit dem historisch korrekt platzierten „lower Logo“ voll auf ihre Kosten.

Veredelt mit dem legendären Heavy Aging des Murphy-Lab, versprüht diese Gitarre den puren Vibe der späten 50er.

Hier wurde nicht einfach Lack malträtiert, sondern ein optisches und haptisches Gesamtkunstwerk geschaffen. 

Das speziell entwickelte Murphy-Lab-Nitrofinish bricht in unzähligen, hauchdünnen Lackrissen auf und fühlt sich seidig-trocken an. Die gealterte Hardware trägt die perfekte Vintage-Patina. Besonders gelungen ist die Rückseite des Halses:

Das Aging nimmt dem Lack die unangenehm klebrige Glätte, die man von Gloss-Lackierungen kennt. Das Halsprofil liegt dabei im perfekten Spot zwischen Chunky und Medium und fühlt sich sofort vertraut an.

Mit gut 4,2kg (inklusive Bigsby) bringt diese Paul genau das richtige Fundament mit, um die akustischen Vorzüge des massiven Mahagonikorpus mit dem Bigsby-System zu vereinen. Durch den veränderten Saitendruck und die extrem dünne Murphy-Lab-Lackierung liefert sie ein beachtliches Schwingungsverhalten, das sich in messerscharfem Attack und einem schier endlosen, singenden Sustain äußert.

Am Amp zeigt sie keinerlei Neigung zum dumpfen Matschen. Die Mitten beißen wunderschön, während die Höhen dank des Vibratosystems eine feine, luftige Brillanz mitbringen. Dabei lässt sie sich derart feinfühlig mit den Volume Reglern dosieren, dass man gar nicht erst das Bedürfnis verspürt, am Amp herumzudrehen.

Es ist absolut faszinierend, wie diese Goldtop den Spagat zwischen roher Power und subtiler Dynamik auf den Punkt trifft.
