A B♭/F full double French horn from Brasspire Unicorn, designed and built by Mac Corporation, based in Nagoya. Gold brass mouthpipe. 310mm yellow brass bell, detachable. 12mm rotary bore. B♭/F switchable. American shank mouthpipe receiver. Movable left-hand pinky hook. Comes with a lightweight semi-hard case and mouthpiece. List price: 363,000 yen.

Built on the classic German tradition while chasing genuine ease of blowing, this horn combines the wide expressive range horn players demand with the flexibility to handle a broad span of genres. Beyond just being easy to play, it has a solid, focused core and wide dynamic range that holds up in large ensembles like orchestras and wind bands. The design has also been steadily refined over time - the mouthpipe material was originally red brass and has since been changed to gold brass, with a nickel-silver reinforcement plate added around the outer curve, giving the tone a rounder, more cohesive quality. At this price, the spec here is genuinely a bargain.
