This Reform double-top German pre-war parlor guitar with a hand carved rosette (typical for guitar lutes of the period, but much less common on guitars) was made during the 1920s by the J. G. Ficker & Sohn company, Markneukirchen. It was located in the Musikwinkel region on the Czech-German border, which used to be famous for its musical instrument manufactures and high-quality musical instruments made there.

It is a fully and comfortably playable and skillfully crafted instrument, featuring a rare double-top configuration, and ready to be properly played and enjoyed.

This guitar features:

• Spruce double top (there is a second fine spruce resonance board fitted inside the body)
• All-solid-wood ladder braced construction
• Solid maple sides and back
• Very comfortable and straight neck with an ebonized fretboard and a recent refret
• Cleaned brass tuners authentic to this instrument and a well-preserved original varnish with some purely visual marks of previous playing and small repairs on the fretboard (usual for played instruments of this age).

The sound of this guitar is rich and percussive, with articulate lows and great definition in the higher register too. The doubled top adds a wonderful second layer of resonance to its sound, and it is very rarely found on instruments of this type.

The scale lenght is 615 mm, nut width 44 mm, string spacing at bridge (E to e) is 55 mm and at the moment, it is strung up with a new set of standard-tension nylon strings.
