This Höfner Model 173 is an interesting guitar in many respects—and a very endearing one, too.
It dates back to the second half of the 1960s, judging by its pickup configuration: two "Diamond" single-coils in the neck and middle positions, and a humbucker at the bridge.
These pickups are excellent—powerful and highly dynamic—with a stronger midrange presence than the Stratocaster, whose lines this guitar emulates.
The sound falls into a territory similar to the DeArmond pickups found on Harmony guitars, sitting somewhere between a standard single-coil and a P90.

It offers a wide range of tones thanks to three on/off switches that allow for every possible pickup combination, including very "Strat-like" sounds in the 1/2 and 2/3 paired positions.

Whether playing old-school rock, surf, blues, or garage, you can dial in beautiful, full clean tones as well as "The Kills"-style crunch.

It has just a full inspection and setup in our workshop—as is our standard practice—so it plays effortlessly.
The neck is very comfortable and straight, the frets are in great condition, and the tremolo feels smooth and musical.

It sports a lovely 1960s aesthetic, featuring attractive vintage tuners and a Strat-style body wrapped in red vinyl. These models are excellent vintage guitars; they are more affordable than many other options but hold their own impressively—they sound fantastic and are truly inspiring to play!
