A very rare Jennings JV40 - probably one of the best left and a collectors item.
After Tom Jennings sold Vox in 1967 he went on to produce variants of the Vox AC30 through his company JEI.
In 1971 he produced the JV40 which he claimed had 40 watts to the Vox AC30's - 30 watts. It has probably nearer to 33-35 watts though.
This JV is number 1188. I use to own 1197 which was labelled AC40 as around late 1971 Tom Jennings renamed the JV40 the AC40, making at most 50 JV40s - only a handful are now known to exist. Marketing material in 1972 call it the AC40.
This JV40 is in very good condition cosmetically and is fully working and has:
- original silver Celestion Alnico speakers with date code KD12 (12th November 1971) --fully working and sound like true Alnico's in Vox's.
- original wiring, transformers etc - all serviced and the key components are original;
- new ruby output tubes;
- the silver knobs have the red position button - these are very rare as later versions had silver knobs without the red position button.
Comes with an after market Vox pedal box for the tremolo on/off effect.
To learn more about the JV40 see the voxac100.org.uk website - search under site map and then further down the page click on Jennings AC40. A picture of 1188 with 1197 is on this site.
