I am offering a Gibson Advanced Jumbo VS from 2010, a crafted in Bozeman, Montana (USA), all solid timber acoustic guitar featuring the legendary Slope Shoulder Dreadnought design, select Sitka spruce top, sides and back made of impressively figured Indian rosewood, set mahogany neck with 43.8mm bone nut, bound rosewood fingerboard with Diamonds and Arrows mother-of-pearl inlays, long 648mm scale length, Grover Open Gear nickel tuners and B band pickup system in a beautiful Vintage Sunburst Nitro high-gloss finish in very good condition with black Gibson luxury hardshell case, manufacturer’s papers, and professional setup with 12-gauge Elixir strings.
The Advanced Jumbo is a breathtaking incarnation of the icon from Gibson’s Round Shoulder acoustic line. The popular all-solid timber Round Shoulder Acoustic Gibson AJ was first introduced in 1936 in a limited run of 300 pieces as a response to C.F. Martin’s Dreadnought and is considered an absolute classic today. Essentially a J-45 but with a longer 648mm scale length and a rosewood body, the AJ—with its wide dynamic range and warm mids—has become an indispensable part of Gibson’s acoustic lineup.
Like the original from the 1930s, this 2010 model features a back and sides made of dark-figured rosewood and an exceptionally resonant Sitka spruce top. The fantastic woods and high-quality craftsmanship of the Gibson Bozeman workshop produce a wonderfully rich, warm, and exceptionally powerful sound, in which complex harmonic structures and a punchy bass foundation are particularly well showcased. The rounded body also ensures beautiful projection and versatile, bright, warm tones with a subtle yet dynamic range of timbres—ideal for any style of strumming and picking!
The comfortable Modified “V” mahogany neck feels great in the hand, delivering an authentic vintage playing experience and harmonizing perfectly with the Advanced Jumbo’s traditional construction. The high-quality rosewood fingerboard, with its elegant Diamonds & Arrows mother-of-pearl inlays, underscores the premium quality of this classic and, together with the bone nut, ensures excellent tone transmission and long sustain.
A sound sample of this model (from 2007 only) can be found above at the end of the photo gallery.
The professionally upgraded active B Band pickup system also enables natural and dynamic amplification on stage or in the studio.
Visually, too, the Advanced Jumbo ranks among the most beautiful acoustic guitars from Gibson.
The softly graded Vintage Sunburst nitrocellulose finish, the characteristic AJ Firestripe pickguard, the historically accurate scripted Gibson logo on the headstock, cream-colored bindings, and the open-gear Grover nickel tuners echo the style-defining details of the historic originals and give the guitar its unmistakable vintage character.
