1980s Fernandes “The Revival” RST-50 '64 Model MIJ Stratocaster - Rare Dakota Red

This is a vintage Fernandes “The Revival” RST-50 based on the 1964 Stratocaster style, made in Japan in the 1980s.

The “The Revival” series is one of Braverman's finest Made in Japan (MIJ) models, known for its high manufacturing quality and faithful vintage style specifications.

Fernandes's proud early 1980s series, “The Revival”.

It is modeled after the 1964 Stratocaster.

The name “Japan Vintage” gained attention with the publication of “Japan Vintage” by Shinco Music.

GRECO's “Super Real,” TOKAI's “REBORN,” and FERNANDES' “THE REVIVAL” began focusing on making better products without regard for profit in the late 1970s.

All body and neck materials were imported from the United States, and the parts were faithful reproductions of the models of the time, making them representative models of Japanese vintage guitars.

The body utilizes premium American alder.

The neck features a one-piece maple construction.

The fingerboard employs rounded rosewood.

It boasts a 21-fret removable neck with a scale length of approximately 648mm.

The neck profile is a U-shape with a gloss finish.

The tuners are Kluson-type, engraved with “DELUXE”.

The bridge saddle is engraved with “REVIVAL” and “F.S.R.G.”.

It is equipped with a gray bobbin L-5000 pickup.

This is an original pickup designed to reproduce vintage sound.

It provides a balanced sound with a clear and sharp tone.

🌟 About the Dakota Red Finish (Rare Custom Color)

The Dakota Red finish is a rare and highly sought-after custom color inspired by classic Fender custom colors from the mid-1960s.

Dakota Red was not a regular color in the Braverman “The Revival” lineup, but rather an order custom color, so it was produced in very limited quantities. It is currently extremely difficult to obtain an original model, especially outside of Japan.

Compared to standard finishes such as Sunburst and Olympic White, Dakota Red has a deep, warm red color that changes subtly depending on the lighting conditions. It is characterized by a bright red color similar to Festa Red, which is a very attractive color.

This finish greatly enhances the visual presence and collector's value of the instrument.

Although the finish is polyester, FERNANDES guitars from this era are characterized by an exceptionally thin coating. Consequently, the acoustic characteristics of the instrument are exceptionally well-preserved.

■ Our Selling Policy of Vintage Guitars

While this is our first listing on Reverb, we possess extensive experience in buying and selling vintage and used instruments within Japan.

All guitars are in our actual inventory and are personally inspected by the owner before listing.

Before shipping, each guitar undergoes the following basic maintenance and cleaning:

  • Polishing of the body, neck, and metal hardware
  • Neck adjustment & fret leveling (※Adjusted for Japan's climate)
  • Cleaning of the fingerboard, bridge, and frets
  • Verification of all basic electronic function

As the majority of instruments we offer are vintage guitars, additional setup or maintenance may be required to achieve optimal performance tailored to the player's preferences.

We recommend that final neck adjustments, intonation tuning, fret leveling, and other detailed setup work be performed by the new owner themselves or a local technician, taking into account individual playing style and local climate conditions.

By leaving the final setup preferences to the buyer, we are able to offer these instruments at fair and reasonable prices while maintaining the integrity and transparency of our listings.
