“The ‘78 Century” was made in the famed Yamaki factory, owned and managed by the same family as Daion. Yamaki was also reponsible for the true quality and today high priced early "wing series" guitars from Washburn. The guitar has Ovangkol back and sides, an African relative of rosewood. It shares many of the rosewood’s tonal properties, Its sound goes between the Indian Rosewood’s warmth and depth, and the maple’s treble or highs, including a wide spectrum from lows and highs. Differences include a slightly fuller midrange and a bright treble response resembling that of koa. Paired with a Spruce top that has been hand stained to an antique mahogany finish makes for a perfect tonal combination. The original Daion case is included.

Part of the side on the lower bout was badly smashed when we got the guitar. This is now amended beautifully by our luthier. See pic. The frets show some wear but it plays without any problems and one tuner gear casing is missing. Otherwise it’s in good condition and plays and sounds fantastic.
