HHG Drums Cast Bell Bronze Snare 2022

The cast bronze snare drum. The archetypal boutique custom drum. We've been developing the processes, techniques, and equipment to build these type of shells and hoops for a long time and are so excited to finally be able to offer them to the world.

Our cast bronze snare drums are made from genuine B20 cymbal bronze, not the aluminum bronze used by most other companies. B20 bronze is more musical, but also more expensive and more difficult to work with.

Each drum gets a custom wooden mould made in our shop. That allows us to easily vary the thickness, depth, and diameter that then gets rammed up in a sand mold. Then in the foundry B20 bronze is heated to 1800° until it's a liquid, and poured into the mould. After being allowed to cool and relax, the rough bronze casting is removed from the sand mould. It gets thoroughly cleaned, and heads to the machine shop. Here it will be precision machined on a lathe to be a perfect cylinder, with exacting tolerances. At this point the bearing edges are also machined into the shell.

Once the shell is complete, it is marked for your choice of hardware, drilled, and assembled.

These drums are masterpieces of precision, material, and engineering. We hope you will decide to add one to your arsenal today.

Couple of details for you to choose:

3mm, 5mm, or 5/3/5 mm shell thickness.

(the 5/3/5 is 5mm at the edges, and 3mm in the middle of the shell)

We can also make the shells other thicknesses if you're interested, all the way up to 30 mm thick. Please contact us to discuss the details if you're interested in one of these thicker shells.

Chrome, gold, black nickel, or antique bronze hardware.

Satin clear lacquer or patina finish.

Drum depth- any size from 4" to 8"  (14" or 13" diameter)
