The MXR FOD Drive delivers the tones of two amp stacks in one pedal. Pros have been combining amps on stage and in the studio for years, blending their sounds to find new sounds. Thanks to MXR's award-winning engineering team, you can recreate that experience right on your pedalboard.
The MXR team got their hands on a pair of legendary, heavily customized guitar amps and took them apart for a thorough analysis. One of the amps was modified for a high, scooped-out midrange saturation, while the other was modified for a punchy, midrange crunch. The result was a gritty tone so incredible that the team decided to make it available to players everywhere.
By meticulously replicating the circuits of the two amps, MXR engineers created a single pedal with two separate channels: a High Gain channel and a Crunch Gain channel. Each channel has its own Gain and Volume controls, allowing you to fully customize the two sounds. The Blend control lets you blend the two signals, just like having two separate amps in a mixer. The Tone knob sets the EQ for the overall output signal, and the Scoop switch lets you cut or boost the mids, or leave them flat.
The MXR FOD Drive can be powered by a 9V battery or, alternatively, by a power supply such as the Dunlop ECB003, DC Brick, or Mini Iso-Brick (not included).
