Hello vintage lovers!

***a pair is available on request

This device is a Pultec EQP-1A clone; we are proud of it - and here is why. For 20 years now, our design bureau has been restoring and repairing old valve-tube audio equipment, tape recorders and preamplifiers from the 50s era. We are old technology fans: we feel it, believe in its beauty and impact on sound. When component parts originating from the mid-twentieth century flawlessly come together within the same construction - the magic begins.

If you feel your track is lifeless - it's got all the frequencies but that rush is missing - the usual advice is: put either our Pultec or Magnetec to use, and a miracle is sure to happen! The classic Pultec circuit design - a valve-tube amplifier; capacitor dielectrics made of paper, oil, and mica; as well as the current in the device prepared by a valve-tube rectifier - will do its great part. Each component introduces its own small distortions, and together they shape up a lively and warm sound. For example: with the help of Magnetec, it is quite pleasant to raise 8k on ready-made vocals; or, give some bass to the drum: add a little more 60Hz - and it will suddenly turn out to be the main splash of color with which the whole song will sparkle.

It is also important to mention that we coil our inductors only by hand, and only with thick wire. They all turn out a little different, and that is why we have to sort them into pairs from a large quantity; but - that’s also our secret and pride. Such coils come out with a high Q-factor. They give that very ringing that any frequency filter made with a capacitor and coil is famous for. The entire circuit design wiring must be made by means of wires, using point-to-point technology, using a sound grounding thick copper busbar. That's the only way it was done in the golden valve-tube era! It is difficult to explain with physics how this method is better for electron motion; but the equipment assembled by point-to-point wiring sounds better, and we definitely hear it. This method of wiring has now been abandoned solely in order to reduce the cost of production, and not to improve sound. Our production still lives mentally in the 1950s, and we assemble our Magnetec only like that.

It takes a lot of effort to solder one Magnetec: you have to scout for old components and thoroughly test them for reliability. There are a lot of warehouses left from the USSR era with the military complex radio parts which can now be sought out and bought. We control and cover each soldering with a zapon enamel.

The position of each wire has been found and verified as a result of a long-lasting device production. We love our equalizer very much and are 100% confident that it will boost your mixes with exactly those elements which have been missing from them. This equalizer has been created to make your sound real!

We have very little staff, and our production process is not fast - that is why we are able to keep the lowest possible price for a very ambitious and expensive device.
