Since the introduction of the JEM 1987, Steve Vai has been inextricably linked to the model with the iconic handle. This JEM is produced in Japan and features all the design elements you would expect from this guitar model. The deep cutaways, together with the rounded heel, provide easy access to all 24 frets, of which the last four frets are scalloped. The floating Ibanez Edge Locking Tremolo has a range from the subtlest vibrato to the deepest divebombs. The pickup configuration is particularly multifunctional with two humbuckers and one single coil; The smart circuit splits the humbuckers into positions 2 and 4 to create the tasteful sounds of the intermediate positions of a Stratocaster.
