The RTG (Random Tone Generator) is a rather unusual pedal, a reissue of an experimental synthesizer launched in 1980 under the model number EH1300. It automatically generates random notes across a six-octave range, from 20 Hz to 1 kHz, creating unpredictable electronic sounds, ranging from vintage synthesizer beeps to strange and atmospheric pads. It features a single Rate control to adjust the speed of note generation, as well as a Glide switch that adds a portamento effect between frequencies. Particularly interesting when combined with delay, reverb, fuzz, or modulation pedals, it allows for the creation of experimental sonic textures and science-fiction atmospheres. Manufactured in a Nano format, it was discontinued in 2019 and is now a rather unique curiosity in the EHX catalog.
