Song Stories: Ryan Bingham's "Bluebird"

"How do you expect someone to believe what you're saying if you don't believe it yourself?"

Ryan Bingham's poignant songwriting philosophy is something that he's cultivated over the course of his career. He's realized that even if he's writing about growing up in a tough town in Texas, his fans overseas can still relate to what he's singing about on stage as long as he's being honest. He's learned that not everything has to be literal, but everything does have to be authentic. The world-weary but hopeful "Bluebird" is a reflection of that philosophy.

Along with his songwriting philosophy, Ryan talked us through some of the gear his band uses. They're partial to Collings guitars and mandolins – Ryan uses a Collings Waterloo acoustic and his guitarist uses a recently purchased Collings I-35.
