What makes this guitar special: As the first American Peavey production bass, the T-40 holds a unique place in brand history. It has classic Peavey style, yet carries on the late ‘70s motif. The medium round profile neck on this bass will be familiar to a variety of players and moves easily from the nut to the cutaway. The pickups are awesomely punchy, yet possess a beefy low end that offers up a bit of chunk without losing articulation. This particular piece is a first year example, in absolutely terrific condition. When you consider the price point in comparison to the build quality and reliability, these basses are about as underrated as they come. Like all our instruments, it has been professionally inspected and setup by one of our expert in-house luthiers. It will arrive ready to play right out of the case. All you have to do is tune it.

Condition: This bass is in great shape for its vintage. There are a handful of signs of playwear throughout, including light scratches and scuffs from handling, a few paint chips, along with some pickwear on the guard. For a 40 year old instrument, this piece is a 8/10.

Body: Offset double cutaway southern ash body in White. 3-ply black pickguard. Chrome hardware. Fixed bridge with individually adjustable saddles. Silver Peavey top hat knobs with black insert and sharp “P” logo.

Neck: Medium round, bi-laminated hard rock maple neck and 12” radius maple fingerboard with black dot inlays. Chrome open-gear tuning machines. 1 11/16” metal nut. 34” scale length. Frets are in terrific shape with almost no wear. Neck is straight and truss rod is fully functional.

Electronics: Double blade humbucking pickups. 2 x volume. 2 x tone controls. Phase switch. 3-way pickup selector.

Weight: 10 lb, 12 oz

Playability/Sound: This is an easy-playing bass all-around. The neck is a common and familiar shape and will be easy for many players to be comfortable with quickly. The pickups are very punchy and overdrive nicely. The build quality is superb and affords some great natural resonance. All in all, a terrific bass.

Case: Original hard shell case included.
