I build a faithful point-to-point 1960s style Dallas Rangemaster. I like 2SB transistors a lot in this circuit and harvest them from thrift store transistor radios, then hand test each one to find a certain honk that some of them exhibit more prominently than others. I add a toggle switch between two new-old-stock high end film caps to set the frequency response of the pedal - toggle up (or down, depending on how I'm feeling that day) is the original Dallas Rangemaster bass cut and mid boost, toggle the other way will give you a full range roar more akin to Iommi's fabled modified unit with all the bass frequencies intact and a little bit more overall gain.
This Germanium pedal operates on a positive ground polarity. I wire these pedals to run on a standard 9 volt centre negative power supply, like all your other pedals do. HOWEVER you cannot daisy chain this pedal with other pedals - it needs its own dedicated power supply or isolated power line from a brick style power supply. All your other pedals are negative ground and they won't share power this way.
You can of course (and please do try) run this pedal on a battery. I think they do feel a little more squishy on a battery and it's fun to hear how the voltage loss will affect the tone too.
Shipping if you are not in Canada - may vary. Please understand if the actual rate is higher than posted I may need to work with you on this. If a rate is not available for your country please reach out and I will see what I can do.
Pacific Frequency is a one man show in a backyard shed. Pedals are sold with one year warranty on parts and perpetual service provided you cover shipping. Warranty does not cover accidental or intentional damage and if your pedal has rare, obsolete components that fail please understand that identical replacements may not be available.
Pedals are sold as final sale unless defective on arrival (everything is tested moments before shipping but you never know what happens in shipping!) you don't like it/wasn't what you hoped for/someone else bought you one already not included. Germanium transistors especially, but all vintage components have wide operational tolerances and no two units will sound alike, no matter how hard I try to convince them to. Please understand that I can't afford to take things back for these reasons - this is a passion and hobby, not a business with a profit margin.
