The Gibson Custom Shop do some pretty special stuff, whether it be re-issues of our favourite guitars of years gone by, or turning dream guitars into reality. The Gibson Custom Shop can do it all. We're thrilled to announce the expansion of the widely acclaimed Murphy Lab Collection with the addition of legendary Gibson acoustic models with Murphy Lab Heavy Ageing. These stunning recreations are full of character, vibe, and of course, that vintage tone!

The Gibson SJ-100 was originally built back in 1939-1942. Due to the short production cycle of this model only a few instruments were ever built, with only a small amount surviving to this day. This model is extremely rare and recognisable for its distinctive Mahogany back and sides. Were thrilled to see this awesome model return once again.

This Murphy Lab 1939 SJ-100 begins with a Thermally Aged Red Sitka Sprue top that is supported with Gibsons traditional hand-scalloped X-bracing, creating a vintage-inspired tone. The back and sides are crafted from solid Mahogany and look truly stunning, it perfectly complements the rich Spruce top. The Faded Vintage Sunburst finish is visually stunning and features some awesome lacquer checking, the attention to detail is second to none! You can expect to see heavy belt buckle wear, light arm wear, and light neck wear alongside the checked finish.

The 2-piece Maple neck is super comfortable and great for both bold chordal work and subtle fingerstyle playing. It features a 25.5 scale length alongside a rounded neck profile, allowing for quick, easy movements. The bound Ebony fingerboard features a 12 radius, 20 standard frets, 43.815mm nut width, and mother of pearl dot inlays.

With Waverly tuners, and a traditional Ebony Moustache bridge design, you can expect great stability and performance. A Gibson Custom hardshell case is also included.
