I present you a cigarbox-style guitar made of bear skull, seasoned with traditional believes of Northern America natives. Bear is one of the biggest predators on North American mainland, many tribes considered it to be a very powerful patron and they treated it with great respect, which led to lots of legends and rituals.
Most of the tribes living in lowlands had a ritual of eating a part of grizzly bear heart…
“One morning when I was 8 years old, my grandpa gathered us together. He killed a grizzly bear the day before, so when we came near him, I found out that the old man was holding the bear’s heart in his hand. We knew exactly what comes next, cause every Crow warrior should have eaten a piece of grizzly bear’s heart, then he could tell it straight that he had a grizzly’s heart. I say it when I face some troubles — even today, — and it helps me stay focused. It clears my mind and calms me instantly.”
Also, when tribes living on the shores of the Hudson Bay killed a bear, they sang a religious song to entreat the spirit of the dead animal. This guitar is created for explosive hymns in accordance with the ancient believes of the natives of the US, which take their beginning in the mighty forces of nature.
Body is the real bear skull. Neck and fretboard – quilt maple, 22 frets, fret markers are made of rifle shells, scale – 546 mm, covered with linen oil and beeswax. Bridge and nut – old rifle ammo. 1 volume, 1 tone, control knobs are old shells, 1 single. Strings – Gibson Bright Wires [ 36-26-16-11 ], Open G.
