The Rook Royale is an American boutique pedal that combines two independent circuits in a single enclosure: the Rook overdrive and a boost inspired by the Echoplex EP-3 preamp. The Rook section features Gain, Volume, Bass and Treble controls, along with a three-position switch offering classic overdrive, a more open and dynamic sound without clipping diodes, or a rawer distortion using LED clipping diodes. The Speakeasy boost features Boost and Treble controls to increase volume and add presence without sacrificing depth. A switch lets you place the boost before or after the overdrive, offering different ways to thicken your tone, push the saturation further or make solos stand out. Versatile and well suited to stacking with other pedals, it covers a wide range of sounds, from a light crunch to more aggressive rock tones, with a particularly effective EQ and true bypass on each section.
