I am offering here a Fender Custom Shop '67 Telecaster Heavy Relic Shell Pink from 2021, a handcrafted at the Fender Custom Shop in Corona, California (USA), luxury reissue model of a 1967 vintage Telecaster, featuring a select ash body (3.23 kg total weight!), bolt-on maple neck with factory-sanded back and ’60s-style oval “C” neck profile, premium “AAA” rosewood fingerboard with 7.25’’ radius and 42mm bone nut, two hand-wound Fender CS ’63 Tele singlecoil pickups, classic ’67 string-through body Gatton Vintage Tele bridge with brass string saddles, and high-quality Fender Schaller “F” tuners in an elaborately aged Shell Pink Heavy Relic nitro finish with mint pickguard in mint condition, including black Fender CS deluxe hardshell case, manufacturer’s paperwork, and professional setup with 10-46 Elixir Optiweb strings.

The Fender ’67 Telecaster Heavy Relic is meticulously modeled after the historical specifications of a 1967 Telecaster—the highly sought-after final year of the CBS era, when Fender still used classic nitrocellulose-lacquered necks. The late ’60s era includes the most sought-after years for a CBS Telecaster, and even musical legends such as Keith Richards, Brad Paisley, and Eric Clapton were regularly spotted playing a 1967 Telecaster.

This 2021 Custom Shop reissue model featured here comes with a select solid ash body, which delivers the quintessential Telecaster tone: dry and warm, with a direct response and incredibly rich in overtones. Weighing in at 3.23kg, the guitar falls within an ideal range for long sessions and offers excellent acoustic resonance. But the meticulously applied Shell Pink Heavy Relic nitrocellulose finish certainly plays a role as well—with realistic paint chips, numerous playwear marks, and a natural-looking patina, just as you’d expect from an original that’s been played extensively, the guitar not only boasts a look you’ll fall in love with but also conveys an incredible vintage ’60s vibe.

The bolt-on maple neck, featuring a medium-wide ’60s-style oval C profile and a factory-sanded back, ensures direct contact with the wood, resulting in a high-quality, silky-dry playing feel that instantly inspires confidence. Combined with the one-piece “AAA” rosewood fingerboard, the historically accurate 7.25’’ radius, and the 21 medium jumbo frets, this creates an authentic and extremely comfortable playing experience.

Sonically, this Telecaster impresses with two hand-wound Fender CS ’63 Vintage Tele singlecoil pickups that perfectly capture the classic early ’60s Tele sound: crisp, open highs, a hollow, woody midrange, and tight, defined bass. The bridge pickup delivers plenty of twang with excellent cut-through, while the neck pickup remains warm, clear, and surprisingly round. The combination of both pickups produces the legendary bell-like Tele middle-position tone, which is ideal for rhythm work and dynamic clean playing.

A sound sample of a similar model (from 2019 only) can be found above at the end of the photo gallery.

The classic 3-piece string-through-body ’67 Gatton Vintage Tele bridge with brass saddles ensures authentic attack, sustain, and tuning stability. This is complemented by Fender Schaller F-Style tuners, which fit perfectly—both visually and functionally—with the overall historical concept. The aged chrome/nickel hardware and the three-layer mint green relic pickguard underscore the authentic CBS look.
