LAA Custom The Old Ge Box – Limited Edition OC44 Germanium Treble Booster

The Old Ge Box is a boutique germanium treble booster inspired by the legendary Dallas Rangemaster, reimagined through more than two decades of pedal-building experience by Carlo Sorasio of LAA Custom.

At the heart of the circuit is a carefully selected vintage Mullard OC44 germanium transistor, one of the most sought-after components ever used in classic British boost circuits. Due to the rarity and strict selection process of these transistors, production was limited to only 55 units.

Unlike a traditional Rangemaster-style boost, The Old Ge Box offers two independently voiced boost settings, each with its own dedicated EQ and output level controls. This allows the pedal to cover a wide range of tones, from focused midrange punch to a fuller, richer boost, while retaining the dynamic response and musical character that made the original circuits famous.

Built using premium NOS (New Old Stock) components sourced from LAA Custom’s private collection, The Old Ge Box delivers the harmonic richness, touch sensitivity and organic response that players associate with the finest vintage germanium pedals.

Designed to excel with tube amplifiers pushed into natural breakup, it responds beautifully to guitar volume adjustments, cleaning up effortlessly and delivering the expressive feel that defined many of the classic guitar tones of the 1960s and 1970s.
