1926 Weymann Style 150-A Tenor Banjo with Resonator & Original Case

Offered here is a beautiful 1926 Weymann Style 150-A tenor banjo, a professional-grade instrument from the golden age of American banjo manufacturing. Produced during the height of the Jazz Age, Weymann banjos are highly regarded for their craftsmanship, unique design features, and exceptional tone. Today, they remain favorites among collectors, traditional jazz musicians, and vintage instrument enthusiasts.

The Style 150 was one of Weymann's premier tenor banjo models, and the 150-A variant was factory-equipped with the company's innovative detachable tone resonator. Unlike many contemporary resonator banjos that used screws or brackets, Weymann's design allowed the resonator to be quickly removed and reinstalled, giving players the flexibility to switch between open-back and resonator configurations with ease.

This example remains in very good cosmetic condition and has been professionally set up for excellent playability.

Tone & Performance:

Weymann banjos are known for their lively response, clear articulation, and impressive projection. The Style 150-A delivers the bright, punchy voice that helped define Jazz Age tenor banjo playing while retaining warmth and musicality that make it equally enjoyable for folk, traditional jazz, ragtime, Celtic, and early American music styles.
