4 Transformer coupled microphone preamps into a mono output. These things have a beautiful vintage colour to them and can be driven really nicely. These are the same transformers from the Shure Level-Loc and you can get a very similar style of distortion out of these, especially if you run line level right into the microphone preamps (really nasty!)
