I am offering a Fender Custom Shop '63 Telecaster NOS from 2011, a handmade at the Fender Custom Shop in Corona, California (USA), luxury reissue model based on a 1963 vintage Telecaster with a selected alder body (total weight 3.39kg), bolt-on birdseye maple neck with 60s style oval “C” neck profile, fine ‘AAA’ rosewood fingerboard with 9.5" radius and 42mm bone nut, two Fender '63 Tele singlecoil pickups, classic 3-piece string-through-body 63 Tele bridge and high-quality Fender Vintage Style tuners in a brilliant 3-tone sunburst nitro finish with 3-ply parchment pickguard in excellent condition, including black Fender G&G deluxe hardshell case, manufacturer's papers, and professional setup with 10-gauge Elixir strings.
This Fender Custom Shop '63 Telecaster NOS from 2011 is consistently based on the historical specifications of a 1963 Telecaster. The early '60s era is considered one of the most sonically balanced phases of the pre-CBS Telecaster, during which greats such as George Harrison, Pete Townshend, and Andy Summers discovered their love for the Telecaster during the “British Invasion” and helped the model achieve worldwide fame. It is precisely this feeling that has been captured here with great attention to detail.
The guitar comes with a selected solid alder body, which provides the classic Telecaster tone foundation: dry, direct, and with clear response. With a total weight of 3.39kg, the guitar is ideal for long sessions and offers excellent acoustic resonance. This is certainly also due to the thin NOS nitrocellulose finish, which is applied without any artificial factory aging. 120% vintage '60s vibe!
The bolt-on birdseye maple neck with a medium-width '60s style oval C profile provides a comfortable, light playing feel that immediately inspires confidence. In combination with the one-piece 9mm “AAA” rosewood fingerboard, the 9.5" radius, and the 21 Sanko 6105 frets, the result is modern, precise playability without losing the authentic vintage character.
Sonically, this Telecaster impresses with two Fender '63 Tele singlecoils that perfectly reproduce the typical early '60s Tele sound: wiry, open highs, a hollow, woody midrange, and a tight, defined bass. The bridge pickup delivers classic twang with excellent assertiveness, while the neck pickup remains warm, clear, and surprisingly round. The combination of both pickups produces the legendary bell-like Tele middle position signal, which is ideal for rhythm work and dynamic clean playing.
A sound sample of a similar model (only with body bindings) can be found above at the end of the photo gallery.
The classic 3-piece string-through-body '63 Tele bridge with slotted saddles provides authentic attack, sustain, and tuning stability. This is complemented by Fender Vintage Style tuners, which fit perfectly with the overall historical concept, both visually and functionally. The chrome/nickel hardware and three-layer parchment pickguard underscore the harmonious pre-CBS look.
