If you’re looking at this bass, you already know what it is.

This bass is widely regarded as one of the finest basses to come out of Japan during the golden era of the early 1980s. Built in Japan at a time when Ibanez was establishing its reputation for world-class craftsmanship, the RB924 combines exceptional build quality, premium materials, and a remarkably versatile active electronics system.

Unlike many vintage instruments that rely mainly on nostalgia, this remains an outstanding professional bass by today’s standards. It delivers deep, articulate lows, punchy mids, and crystal-clear highs with exceptional sustain and note definition. Many players compare it to high-end American instruments from the same era

The ash body provides a fast, dynamic response, while the slim maple neck and 24-fret rosewood fingerboard make it incredibly comfortable to play.

One of its standout features is the classic P/J pickup configuration combined with the original active electronics, offering everything from warm vintage Precision-style tones to bright, aggressive Jazz Bass character and modern hi-fi sounds in between.

These instruments were produced in relatively small numbers (only two years) and have become increasingly difficult to find, especially in original condition.
