For sale is a beautiful and rare Morris model MGT-2 SG-style electric guitar, crafted in Japan in 1978 at the renowned Moridaira factory. The guitar comes in a classic and stunning Wine Red finish. This is an exceptional piece from the famous Japanese "Lawsuit Era", highly regarded for its build quality, wood selection, and vintage resonance.
Cosmetic & Structural Condition:
The instrument is in excellent overall condition for its nearly 50 years of age. The Wine Red finish retains a beautiful gloss and shows only minor, period-correct signs of wear. The headstock features the Morris logo and the central crown inlay, both perfectly preserved. On the back of the headstock, the original foil sticker displaying the serial number (No. 845934) is still present and intact. The original chrome neck plate on the back of the body is stamped "Made in Japan" and still retains the original model sticker (MGT-2).
Technical Specifications:
- Pickups: 2 original vintage humbuckers with chrome covers, delivering an authentic late-70s rock tone with great output.
- Neck & Fingerboard: Straight and very comfortable bolt-on neck. Dark rosewood fingerboard featuring side binding and beautiful pearloid block inlays.
- Frets: Original frets are in great shape with plenty of life left.
- Hardware: 100% original period hardware, featuring an adjustable bridge, a vintage vibrato tailpiece system complete with its original tremolo arm, and Kluson-style vintage tuners with plastic buttons.
An outstanding instrument both for collectors of vintage Japanese guitars and as a reliable daily player. Available for testing/trials.
