HGE Contraptions Colorsound One Knob Fuzz variant done with old vintage parts (176th circuit built).
A special massive sounding fuzz in such a small enclosure, I used carbon comp resistors, and Styroflex/MKT caps. Soldered with Kester 63/37 quality eutectic solder and I used silver plated copper PVDF coated wires. Specific transistors were used as described below:
The transistors were chosen after many tweaks for the specific tolerance of all the combined old parts to react properly and controlled: Q1 is an MPSA12 Darlington transistor at the input which has super massive hfe gain. Q2 is the opposite, a 56-58 low hfe Germanium Texas Instruments 2N1891.
The switch basically puts two 470uF caps in parallel to the 22uF one (making approx 1000uF), and makes a "fat+gating" mode, very cool to have as well, as it chops the notes when they are not played, and also gives a "1 second" signal cut of sorts.
I attached a video with it in tweaks when it wasn't boxed, in a clean channel on a Carvin V3 head. I recommend boosting bass from your amp, since this pedal does cut some bass at the input. If you need additional takes and whatnot, no issue, as it is very dependent on amp tweaks and different based on what pickups and amps you use.
